Were
you singing the tunes from “Godspell” all during your Spring Break? The enthusiastic cast and crew treated us to
a memorable performance with catchy tunes that stayed with us – and how
appropriate for the Lenten season! Many
thanks to our talented performers and backstage crew members and their
leaders: Mrs. Willets on lights and
sound; Ms. Laird on scenery and props; Mrs. Rousey on acting; and Mrs. Everly
on music.
Speaking
of Lent, this is Holy Week so we will not be having classes on Good Friday,
March 29.
Chapel
services will focus on the special meaning of this week for Christians. We will have all-school chapel on Thursday
this week, so please try to have your children at school by 8:20 so they can
meet their class and buddy before the service begins.

A note regarding the Stations of the Cross on
Good Friday:
The Diocese of Connecticut in cooperation with
the Diocese of Washington (D.C.) will be doing a perambulating Stations of the
Cross in D.C. on Monday, March 25. The title of this event is "The Way of
the Cross: Challenging a Culture of Violence." The bishops of Connecticut write about
this event, "We are taking this Holy Week witness to our nation's capital to say to our political
leaders and to our country that we will no longer be silent when violence
permeates our world, our society, our churches, our homes and ourselves. Our faith calls us to be ministers of reconciliation,
to give voice to the voiceless and to strive for justice in the name of our
Lord. The horrific slaughter of children and adults in the Sandy Hook section
of Newtown in our home state, and the day-to-day shootings and death of and by
our children and young people in cities and towns across our nation, call us to
prayer and action and to work for peace.
Our presence here today (March 25) reflects our common commitment to
transformational change and the proclamation of God's hope to the world." On Good Friday (3/29) at St. Paul's 6:30
Stations of the Cross, we will use the Connecticut liturgy used in D.C. on
March 25. This will be for us an act to declare that the concern about violence
in our country and world is shared by our community. As the Apostle Paul writes
in the Epistle to the Romans, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil
with good." (12.21). We shall not be overcome by violence, rather, in this
act of solidarity with those victimized by violence, we will overcome violence
with good. I invite you to join us for this Way of the Cross. All are
invited and welcomed to attend.
The 50 & Fabulous Auction Gala on April 6th at the Marriott
Muehlebach Hotel is going to be a truly wonderful celebration in support of St.
Paul’s! With great silent auction items, portraits of every student, 50
wishes designated by each department and grade in lieu of fund-a-need, a raffle
that includes the chance for one lucky winner to have a tuition free year, and

celebration there will be dancing to The Taxis band - you won’t want to miss

Several
candidates for available teaching positions have been and will continue to be
on campus for daylong interviews.
They will be wearing nametags and often escorted by members of the
teacher interview teams or administrators but are also invited to observe
carpool, eat lunch with us, and visit classrooms on their own as time permits
in their day. Feel free to introduce
yourself to any of these candidates, if you’re on campus and see one of them.
Fourth Grade Fifty States Fair will be this Thursday from 10:00 - 2:00 in the second floor commons.
Our fourth grade students will show off their knowledge of the states they have chosen to study and give guests a full history/tour of our great country!

Congratulations
to Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Jones whose daughter Lola Estelle was born on Saturday,
March 16th! Mother and baby (weighing in at 8 lbs. 10
oz.) are doing well and adjusting to their new lives. (Mrs. Jones is one of our fifth grade
teachers.) Mr. Hunter Ward is Mrs.
Jones’ substitute during her maternity leave.

In February the 6th Grade
French students participated in the FLES (French Language Elementary School) Contest. It is a
listening comprehension test given to French students in grades 1 – 6.
Twelve of our students will have their scores submitted for national
consideration. Félicitations à tous! Julia H, Julia K, Emily L, Colin McC, Meredith
N, Margaret G, Kent G, Jack M., Elle A, Caroline P, Alex A, and Elsa P, and to
their teachers, Madame Bottoni and Mademoiselle Sambursky.
Pembroke
Hill selected one of our graduates, Arianna L, as the recipient of the 2013
Robert Woods Memorial Scholarship to attend Harvard University's Summer School
this summer. Congratulations to Arianna and her family for
this nice honor!
