It was a very special last week of school, thanks to a
whole host of people who made it so.
-Thanks to
Randy Kurt and Catherine Shurtleff, our PE teachers, and the volunteers they
enlisted to help for a delightful two days of Field Day activities. A good time was had by all. Oh, and did you hear? The faculty beat the eighth graders in softball!
- Thanks to
Father Stan and the church community for a lovely Baccalaureate service to
honor our eighth grade graduates.
Thanks, too, to the students who demonstrated exemplary behavior for the
service and reception.
- Thanks to
our seventh grade students and parents for transforming the Parish Hall into a
gorgeous venue for the reception that followed Baccalaureate and provided a
feast of good food to enjoy.
- Thanks to
Chaplain Bauer Nolan for our final chapel service that was full of lively
music, thanks to the leadership of Jan Creidenberg, Missy Haskamp, three former
students and one toddler! We were able
to honor John Ditto, the church organist and music director who plays at all of
our all-school chapels, graduation, and other events, who is retiring after 31
years; and Walker Adams, an alum who just graduated from UMKC and is entering
Sewanee in the fall to study to become an Episcopal priest. We also moved all of the students up to their
new grade level at this service!
- Thanks to
all of the students and teachers for a happy, safe last day of school.
- And,
last, but by no means least, thanks to the teachers who gave tributes to our
students at graduation, to the other faculty, trustees, and vestry members who
attended, and to the parents, grandparents and guests who made them all feel so
special. The eighth graders were, once
again, exemplary in their behavior, as they were literally on stage for the
entire event!
It was a very special end to our 2012 – 2013 school year,
thanks to all of the people who contributed so generously of their time and
talents.

bookplates for your Bibles are being sent with your report card. We inadvertently used the wrong date for the
ones in the Bibles but will be sending new ones to cover the erroneous
ones! Sorry about that.

and the Traditional Summer Camp. There is great variety from which to

We are please to announce the hiring of Marthe (spelled
with an “e” but pronounced as with an “a”) Turlington to be our new
prekindergarten associate teacher. We
are pleased to add Ms. Turlington’s teaching experience and love of young
children to our prekindergarten team.
ANNUAL
FUND SUCCESS! Congratulations to the First Grade Families
of St. Paul's for being the winners of the first ever, Chris Cakes
Challenge. First Graders and their
families enjoyed some high-flying fun on Tuesday, May 14th when Chris Cakes
brought their griddle and a fabulous flipper to feed and entertain them with a
pancake breakfast. The First Grade
reached an outstanding 80% participation rate for the 2012-2013 Annual Fund,
helping to raise the overall participation rate for current St. Paul's Families
to 70%, up fifteen points from last year.
The Board of Trustees, Annual Fund
Committee and Faculty and Staff were also there to celebrate each of those
groups attaining 100% participation.

Faculty and staff are here today and tomorrow, working to
complete grades and comments for final report cards, involved in meetings,
and clearing up for the summer.
Summer hours will be from 7:15 – 6:00, beginning next
week, because of the summer program that will be in session. Administrators, other than Mrs. McDonald,
Director of the Summer Program, will be here for more abbreviated hours. Division Heads and I will be off during the
month of July and other administrators will be taking their vacation at
different times during the summer. The
program team of administrators will be off campus next Tuesday and Wednesday at
a working retreat to look at this year and make plans for next year.
The parties for new families and their buddies will take
place next Thursday, June 6, beginning at 4:00 for early childhood families. The ECC families will meet in the commons of
their building. New students and their
buddy families in grades 1 – 8 will meet in the gym at 5:30 p.m.
The school will be closed for
the week of July 1st, as cleaning and maintenance projects are
undertaken. The administrative office area will be
re-carpeted and painted during the summer so there will be some movement of
people to different offices as the work takes place.
