Monday Morning Memo

Thank you so much to faculty, staff, parent volunteers and student ambassadors for their assistance with our Open House on Saturday.Our guests were so impressed with our school, thanks to these wonderful representatives.Your work made this event a success.

Re-enrollment agreements will be mailed the last week of January. Please watch for your packet in the mail toward the end of this month. As a reminder, an enrollment deposit will be due with your signed agreement and other enrollment documents. All re-enrollment agreements, deposits and forms will be due in the Admissions Office by no later than 3:30 pm on Friday, February 7th.

Grades for the second quarter will be posted tomorrow for fifth through eighth grade students.   Parents are asked to please check Netclassroom and review the grades with your children.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS FOR ST. PAUL’S – DON’T MISS THE 2014 GIFT GATHERING PARTY FOR THE ST. PAUL’S AUCTION ON JANUARY 25^TH!

Travel back to the Roaring Twenties, Great Gatsby-style!  You will not want to miss this fabulous party at the beautiful home of Marny and John Sherman in Sunset Hills, on Saturday, January 25^th from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.  The Shermans are generously providing live music from the jazz age, cocktails and wonderful hors d’oeuvres from Chef Lon Lane.  Valet parking will be provided.  The Shermans’ home can accommodate a very large number of guests, so we hope that as many parents as possible will be able to come and enjoy the party, as well as show their support for St. Paul’s!

Please note:  Donations of cash or items valued at $100 are suggested to provide guidance on typical donations, but all donations (smaller and larger) will be welcome and appreciated at the party!

The CLC (Community Learning Center) has offered several great events so far this year and we are pleased by the number of families taking advantage of the learning opportunities. There are many more events scheduled for the remainder of the school year so here is a link to access the full calendar . The Curriculum Design at St. Paul’s – Tuesday, February 4^th at 4:00 PM

Come hear from the PLC (Professional Learning Community) about the curriculum review process taking place across all divisions. Members of the PLC will provide an overview of the curriculum design process as well information about Common Core, Math and Language Arts essential learning outcomes, and 21^st Century learning objectives. We hope you will join the PLC to hear more about this exciting process taking place at St. Paul’s.

Bill Severns Returns – back by popular demand! – Tuesday, February 11^th at 4:00 PM.  Author and coach, Bill Severns returns to share his thoughts on what children truly seek and need through their involvement in team sports. Bill shares valuable insights and life lessons through his engaging, true stories gathered from his own life experiences as a professional baseball player and little league coach. Bill was a hit when he came to St. Paul’s the first time and we are pleased that he has agreed to come again and help us kick off our spring sports season. Bill’s book, Keepers of the Sandlot, is available for checkout through Mrs. Van Thullenar or can be purchased at www.keepersofthesandlot.com.

The process of reviewing tuition assistance requests for next year begins this week.  If you failed to meet the earlier deadline or your circumstances have changed and you need to request tuition assistance, please know that, while we cannot promise that funds will remain after our work with those who have already applied, we will try to assist those who need help.  More information, including the amount of assistance you could receive, is available here. Our Diversity Coordinator, Michelle Johnson, was in Sunday’s A&E section of the paper regarding her other vocation – that of playwright.  We celebrate the many hats she wears in our community – and especially her role with us!
